Digital Image Asset Management – Avatar

Imagine making a movie like AVATAR and then imagine trying to keep track of every image in every frame, every blade of grass. Before AVATAR even started to come to fruition James Cameron was well aware of the daunting task at hand and engaged Microsoft to help build a platform that would ensure that everything that would be recorded would not be lost.  This can’t be appreciated in print and hopefully we will get this in an interview in the next few months but the importance of the relationship between Mr. Cameron and Microsoft has extended to his appreciation of and support for events like the Imagine Cup.  Expect to see more in the coming weeks.

Capturing every single "item" in this screen would not have been possible without a new asset management system that was developed before AVATAR even got off the ground.
