3D… Coming to a Living Room near You

Here’s another great announcement on the heels of CES. Two major cable networks – ESPN and Discovery – said Tuesday they plan to start beaming 3-D entertainment into peoples' homes in 2010.

What could certainly be one of the next big money makers in consumer electronics, ESPN said it will have a 3-D channel for broadcasting live sports events. With people already spending extra dollars at special theater screenings to see movies like Avatar in 3D, this is the kind of typical item that would make me want to put on special glasses to watch it in my own home and even to get my parents to shell out for a new tv. I don’t think we’ll see too much this year in terms of 3D programs for viewing but more likely 2011 will see a growth in 3D series that will make investing in this technology worth the extra expense.  I think it will be even better as we use more virtual technology on the pc especially one that hooks up to my parent’s big screen tv. Hopefully more of this will be at CES in Vegas!
